Video Marketing Statistics 2026: Key Trends and Insights from Wyzowl

Video content continues to play a prominent role in marketing: companies use it to showcase products, attract audiences, and drive sales. But the format’s popularity alone is not enough — businesses need to understand which videos work, where to place them, and how to measure their results.

We explore the key trends and findings from the Wyzowl State of Video Marketing 2026 report and explain how to apply them to mobile advertising.

Video as an essential part of marketing strategy

According to Wyzowl, 91% of companies use video in their marketing. For 93% of video marketers, it is an important part of their strategy. These figures have remained high for several years: in 2016, 61% of companies used video.

video marketing statistics

Social media videos are the most common type: 69% of video marketers create them. Almost as many — 68% — produce explainer videos. Other popular formats include customer testimonials (57%), presentation videos and video ads (48% each), and teasers (45%).

Most companies produce videos in-house, according to 59% of respondents. Another 32% combine in-house production with help from external creators, while 10% outsource video production entirely.

For 51% of respondents, live-action video featuring real people and settings is their primary format. Animation is the main format for 23%, while 19% primarily create screen recordings.

Businesses choose formats to suit specific goals. Short social media videos help them stay connected with their audiences, while explainer videos showcase products or make complex information easier to understand.

In 2026, 63% of video marketers said they had used AI to create or edit videos. That is an increase of 12 percentage points from 2025, when the figure stood at 51%.

AI is becoming another tool for producing content. Its practical value depends on whether it helps businesses meet campaign goals faster and more effectively.

The BYYD team offers AI video production for advertising. BYYD’s approach is built around three elements: proprietary technology infrastructure, the creative work of specialists, and a legally sound chain of rights.

We check whether the licenses for the models used are applicable, verify the origin of materials, secure rights to protectable creative contributions, and define the contractual status of the final result.

This gives advertisers a fully fledged advertising asset prepared for commercial use, rather than an experiment with AI.

Budgets are holding steady or increasing

Nearly half of video marketers — 49% — plan to increase their video spending in 2026. Another 43% expect to keep their budgets at the same level. This means 92% of respondents do not plan to reduce their spending on video.

video marketing budget

Spending levels vary. Some 46% of respondents allocate no more than a third of their marketing budget to video, while 17% were unsure what share they spend on video content. Views on production costs also differ: 38% say video has become more expensive, 30% say it has become cheaper, and 32% have noticed no change.

Planned budgets confirm continued interest in video, but it is harder to assess its returns without tracking costs. Companies that do not monitor their spending may miss the full picture of their performance.

reasons for not choosing video marketing

Video helps achieve marketing goals

82% of marketers say video delivers a good return on investment. However, the figure was 93% a year earlier.

Another 85% say video has helped generate leads, 83% report increased sales, and 82% say it has boosted website traffic and held users’ attention.

Marketers most often measure success by views (67%) and engagement, such as likes, shares, and other reactions (63%). Clicks and leads are tracked by 52% of marketers, while 32% measure sales.

Views and reactions are useful for measuring reach and interest, but on their own they do not show how video contributes to sales. For a more complete assessment, businesses should compare audience attention with clicks, inquiries, and purchases.

video marketing effectiveness

According to the report, 96% of consumers have watched an explainer video to learn about a product or service. 85% said a video had convinced them to buy a product. And 63% would rather learn about a product or service by watching a short video than by reading an article, viewing an infographic, or attending a webinar.

Video quality matters, too: 89% of respondents said it affects how much they trust a brand. Meanwhile, 84% would like to see more video content from companies.

Among marketers, the most popular video length is between 30 seconds and two minutes, selected by 71% of respondents.

This shows that audiences are willing to watch branded content when it helps them understand an offer. A short video can be a good starting point, but its length should depend on the campaign goal and the complexity of the product.

video marketing key takeaways

Video marketing in mobile advertising

Mobile advertising lets brands show video in apps that people use on their smartphones. These placements can include in-feed videos, video banners, and other formats integrated into the mobile user experience. Depending on the campaign goal, a video can introduce a product, explain its benefits, or direct users to a website.

With BYYD, video ads can run in mobile apps, with audiences selected by location, interests, behavior, and demographic characteristics.

Campaigns can use interactive video and split-screen banners, with one of the screen areas displaying a video. In Video Interaction, a video is combined with an interactive Rich Media or a fullscreen banner, allowing users to explore the offer further after watching. In Split Screen, the screen is divided into areas that display a video and a multimedia creative at the same time. This allows brands to pair a video story with an additional message or interactive element.
